2013 Native American Dollar Designs Unveiled

Late in November 2012 the U.S Mint unveiled the new design for the 2013 Native American Dollar reverse. The theme of the design is "The Delaware Treaty 1778." The reverse will feature a wolf, turkey and a turtle as a representation of the Delaware Tribes that signed the Treaty with the United States on September 17, 1778. The 2012 Native American Dollars are schedule to be released early next year.

Special Limited Edition 2012 Proof Set Issued by U.S. Mint

On September 27, 2012 the U.S. Mint issued a Limited Edition Silver Proof Set. The Limited Edition Silver Set will contain a Regular 2012-W Proof Silver Eagle, 2012-S Silver Proof Kennedy Half Dollar, 5 – 2012-S America the Beautiful Proof Silver Quarters and finally, a 2012-S Proof Silver Dime. The Set will contain 8 different coins in total and have an issue price of $149.95 each directly from the U.S. Mint.

The set does not contain any new coin issues. The coins in the Set have already been issued either as single coin option or in previously issued 2012 coin sets. The only difference to the coins is the presentation packaging in which the coins will be sold. The Set will have a limited mintage of no more than 50,000 sets produced.

2012-W Proof Silver Eagles Sold Out

The 2012-W Proof Silver Eagles originally went on sale at the U.S. Mint on April 12, 2012 and they are now showing as Sold Out on the U.S. Mint website. It took about 7 months for the coins to completely sell out. The coins originally had an issue price of $59.95 each and throughout the year they changed prices depending on the fluctuation price of spot silver. Late in October they remained at $59.95 again. The mintage figures have not been released yet, but the latest sales figures coming in are in the 820,000 range.

U.S. Mint Has Produced over 8 Billion Coins in 2012

The U.S. Mint has been extremely busy producing tons of coins, literally. So far in the year 2012, it has already produced over 8.3 billion coins, a record number and the year isn't even over yet. For the month of October in 2012, the Mint struck well over 1 billion coins alone. The majority of the coins struck in October were Lincoln cents totaling over 60% of October's coin production. So, don't be surprised if you see a lot of dated 2012 coins in circulation.
