Progress continues on our World Coin Project, and by the end of the month, we expect to have fourteen countries ready for viewing.
We are dividing the world into three major regions: Europe, Asia and the Americas.
In PCGS Europe we feature the coins of:
In PCGS Asia, we are offering the coins of:
In PCGS Americas we have:
Altogether, when these countries are complete, we will have accounted for approximately 88% of the PCGS certified world coins that we have graded over the past 25 years.
One of the goals of this project, is not only to organize our population information in a convenient and easy-to-use format, but also to provide some structure for building a collection of world coins by type.
While a complete date and mintmark collection of a particular world coin series might be a bit ambitious for most U.S. collectors, a type collection is typically an achievable goal, and provides a fascinating panorama of the history of a particular country.
For some of the options in world coin collecting, we encourage you to have a look at the PCGS set registry, which features an ever-growing selection of world coin sets.
Please feel free to contact us via email if you have any questions or comments concerning our world coin efforts. We truly believe that exciting collecting vistas await those of you who become involved in this field, and we are anxious to do anything we can to facilitate your understanding and appreciation of this facet of numismatics.
