Ron Guth: 1795 Flowing Hair Silver Dollars are known in two different major varieties: 2 Leaves and 3 Leaves. To determine the variety, simply at the leaf clusters beneath the eagle's wings -- the clusters will contain either two or three leaves.
In terms of relative rarity, the 2 Leaves variety is approximately three times as rare as the 3 Leaves variety (according to the PCGS Population Report as of September 2011). Mint State examples of both major varieties are rare and valuable, but PCGS has graded only a dozen examples of the 2 Leaves. The finest 1795 2 Leaves Silver Dollars certified by PCGS are a pair of MS-65s.
