The government began selling "official" Mint Sets this year. Packaged in cardboard envelopes, and containing two of each regular issue circulating coin, they preserved a number of nicely toned, original pieces for today's collectors. 1947 marked the final year of the Walking Liberty Half, struck this year only in Philadelphia and Denver.
