David Hall: In circulated grades, the 1918-D is about as rare as most other Denver Mint Buffalos of the 1914-1919 era. In Gem condition, the 1918-D is quite rare, definitely rarer than the D and S Mints of 1913 to 1917, but not as rare as the 1918-S, 1919-D and 1919-S. The strike is usually OK, and luster is often semi-frosty with a beautiful iridescent glow. This is rare coin that occasionally comes very nice.
