Expert Comments

David Akers (1975/88): A very popular date with a low mintage of only 1,636 pieces. However, this date was rather extensively hoarded and, as a result, it is one of the most common Type III gold dollars in Unc. Many superb quality specimens exist, and actually any specimen short of choice Unc, is very unusual.
