Jaime Hernandez: In 2001 the U.S. Mint offered the Uncirculated Silver Eagle as well as the regular Proof Silver Eagle for the year. The 2001 Uncirculated Eagles had a small decline in sales, as the Mint sold about 200,000 coins less than it did in the year 2000.

Most 2001 Uncirculated Silver Eagles come in really nice condition grading about MS68-MS69 quality. While MS70 examples are very hard to come by.
