Jaime Hernandez: This is the first year that the U.S. Mint struck Platinum Eagles in any denomination. Since it is a first year issue, the mintage is relatively high compared to other dates in the series. This date also doesn't carry a significant premium compared to other dates in the series, as it is one of the more common dates. Examples up to about PR69 Deep Cameo can easily be obtained. Only in perfect PR70 Deep Cameo condition does it become much more difficult to obtain.
