The 1827 Capped Bust Dime is one of the most common dates of the type, with a rarity similar to that of the 1833, but not as plentiful as the 1835. The PCGS CoinFacts Condition Census consists entirely of MS65 and better examples. The best example is a Prooflike NGC MS67 formerly in the Southwest Collection.
Thirteen different die combinations comprise the entire mintage. The strike quality is rarely 100% and one or more of the stars may be weak (these flaws are typical of coins struck in an "open" collar). Surface characteristics range from frosty and lustrous to bright and prooflike.
