Expert Comments

David Akers (1975/88): The 1856 is only moderately scarce as a date, but strictly uncirculated specimens are definitely rare, more so than those of 1855, a date that has received some acclaim in recent years as a rarity. Most specimens that I have seen are softly struck on the headdress and hair curls.
