Ron Guth: 1888-O VAM 1A is a Top 100 variety and one of the so-called "Clashed E" varieties, all of which show an E in the reverse field below the left side of the tail feathers. This is a slightly scarcer variety and certainly a popular one.  Numerous Mint State examples are known, mostly in MS62.  The finest examples certified by PCGS (as of April 2011) are two MS-66s.  PCGS has not yet graded any PL or DMPL examples of this variety.
