The Morgan dollar design was issued from 1878 through 1904 and again in 1921. The Carson City issues were minted for a much shorter period, beginning in 1878 through 1885, then from 1889 through 1893. More so than the coins of any other Mint, the silver dollars of Carson City are a collection in themselves. There are 13 magic coins, plus many varieties of the 1880-CC. In MS65 or better there’s the ultra-rare 1889-CC, the extremely rare 1893-CC, the oh-so-tough 1879-CC, the scarce 1892-CC and 1890-CC, and so forth. Popular? Incredibly so!
