In 1924, Germany replaced the short-lived Rentenpfennig system with a new Reichspfennig system which lasted until 1936. The 2 Pfennig denomination was sort of an odd duck and was never produced as often or in the quantities of other denominations such as 1 Pfennigs. During the time that these coins were being produced, Germany went from a severe inflationary period to a depression, which meant that few collectors could afford to put high-grade examples away. As a result, this is an underrated series that offers excellent value and a great challenge for collectors.
