The half cent was one of the first denominations struck at the new United States Mint. This coin was first made in 1793, only months after the Large cents were introduced. It is a series filled with rarities, including both major varieties of 1796. Full red examples are almost impossible from the early years, and it’s not until the 1828 issue that the first MS65RD specimen still survives. This composite requires all the Cohen varieties. Roger S. Cohen's American Half Cents first published 1971, has become the definitive resource for half cent collectors.

Notes: This set has bonuses. Please see the Set Composition for a listing. This set is a work in progress. As new varieties are graded, they may be added to the set.
