Mintages are irrelevant when gauging the rarity of a Franklin issue in MS-65 or MS-65 FBL (or higher grade). Original BU rolls of Franklin half dollars rarely contain even a single MS-65 coin. The Proof issues are a mixed bag of rarities and ultra-common coins, depending on the condition and amount of cameo contrast that you are seeking. Because this series is both challenging and affordable, it has become one of the most popular of all U. S. coins sets to assemble.
