This set contains only eight coins, but there’s a lot of numismatic history here. The 1964 and 1964-D are the first Kennedy half dollars and the last 90% silver coins struck for circulation. The 1965 to 1970 coins are the first of the so-called "40% silver" coins, as they are 80% silver and 20% copper on the outer layer bonded to a .209 silver and .791 copper inner layer. To top it off, the 1970-D "circulation strike" half dollars never reached circulation as they were only available in the 1970 Mint set.
