As with most date sets, rarity is often a function of age. The 1796 of course is a key date, with a tiny mintage of only 6,146 and enjoying the status of a one-year type coin. Not far behind is the 1804, with a similarly tiny mintage and actually scarcer than the 1796 in Mint State grade as fewer were saved. Aside from these first two, the 1823/2 is the only other significant rarity with only around 30 to 40 pieces known. The year 1916, is represented by the Barber Quarter, far more affordable than the Standing Liberty type of that year. Since the start of the State Quarter Program in 1999, collecting Quarters has been a popular segment of the market and this set is an excellent entry into this area.
