This was a short-lived series due to its similarity is size and appearance to the Washington quarter. The same thing happened more than a century before when the twenty cent piece (1875-78) was introduced and then abandoned due to confusion with the Seated Liberty quarter. Then, after nearly 20 years, the SBA coin was reissued in 1999 due to high demand and dwindling reserves.
