About this set: The first gold coins that we ever purchased were the Grant Wood and Marian Anderson American Arts Gold Medallions back in 1980. To buy them we had to call on the phone to get the current price and then go to the post office to pay. The coins eventually were mailed back to us taped to a piece of Styrofoam. Of course just around the time we bought them, gold had spiked to around $650 an ounce, and within a year it dropped to $400, teaching us at an early age that investing in gold coins was going to have its ups and downs. We still have that same coin today, although now it is in a MS66 PCGS holder instead of Styrofoam! It is hard to find many high quality Arts medals, as many have been melted and only a few were graded. They are a small, but intriguing and valuable addition to this modern gold set.
Many thanks to PCGS for including a complete Modern Gold Set in the Registry as there are some great designs, and many of these coins and medals honor our American heroes and history.
We hope you enjoy "prospecting" for high grade PCGS gold as much as we do.
