Any attempt to build a set of Proof coins containing coins from the early and middle 19th century invariably runs up against the fact that all Proof coins prior to the late 1850s are extraordinarily rare. Take for example the 1825, 1828, 1832 and 1836 Proofs. These each have a PCGS population of one coin. Given these realities, all of the sets in the Registry thus far are almost exclusively comprised of the later (post 1892) dates. While not realistically a set one can expect to complete, it remains one of the great challenges in the Registry and certainly worthy of the effort.
