The "Young Head" of Queen Victoria appeared on the Sovereign from 1838-1887. There were two distinct reverse designs: the Shield from 1838-1887 and St. George from 1871-1887. There were a number of varieties struck, especially in the early years. This set does not require varieties, but they can be used for the dates in the set.
