About this set: The Overland Trail Collection is made up of U. S. coins chosen for their rarity and eye appeal or both. In addition it is composed of all 8 U. S. Mints, Charlotte, NC., Dahlonega, GA., Carson City, NV., Denver, CO. New Orleans, LA., Philadelphia, PA, San Francisco, CA., and lastly West Point, NY. The set has both proof and business strikes and varies from exquisitely toned to frosty-white specimens. Coins range from the exceedingly rare, originally toned 1838-D half eagle to the rather common, 1911-D St. Gaudens double eagle, the acme of United States design. Coins vary from the historic S.S. Central America 1857-S double eagle to the short lived 1875-CC twenty cent denomination.
