About this set: Mr. Bertram is a coin collector who became interested in American Eagle Silver Dollars a few years ago. When he learned that the general public could not buy uncirculated silver eagles directly from the mint, he became even more interested in this series - especially the tough dates like 1986 and 1996. He then decided to create a website dedicated to the American Eagle Silver Dollar. Over the years, he has had the pleasure of meeting hundreds of wonderful customers over the Internet and he has also assembled a world class set of MS69 silver eagles. In 2001, he completed his MS69 set after finding an elusive 1993 on eBay. The 1993 was the key date in MS69 (population under 50) until late 2001 when a large number of them became available. Today, the "keys" to the series are the 1990, 1994, 1996, 1998 and 1999 dates which have the lowest MS69 populations. These dates are also sometimes plagued with planchet problems, specifically milky white spots, which makes these dates tough to find in MS69 quality. Mr. Bertram highly recommends the 1998 and 1999 dates which are "sleepers" in his opinion and much harder to find than the price guides reflect. His best find was when he purchased a sealed case of superb 1994's in 2000 and was fortunate to end up with nine MS69's - a full 20% of the 1994 MS69 population at the time.
