Description: Primarily Proof and Pattern Sovereigns, although some rare high grade uncirculated pieces are included. In 1817, the old English Guinea was replaced by a Sovereign of twenty shillings, the standard of 22 carat (.916) fineness still being retained. No Pattern or Proof examples exist for most years. This set includes some extremely rare Pattern Sovereigns, as well as many other one of a kind or finest known examples.
