Ron Guth: The 1946 Double Die Reverse Half Dollar is one of those varieties that is easy to spot, making it popular with collectors smart enough to cherry-pick it. This variety is relatively common and generally sells for five to ten times the value of a regular 1946 Half Dollar. PCGS has certified 355 examples as on April 2011, over 100 of which are Mint State. Most of the Mint State examples fall into the MS-64 category. Gems are very scarce and none have been certified finer than MS-66 by PCGS. Check out the APR list below for recent sales.
