Every December we review prices and announce our new prices for the upcoming year. This year we have two great announcements to make…two ideas we're sure you'll love.
First…PRICES WILL BE EXACTLY THE SAME IN 2007 AS THEY WERE IN 2006. There will be no price increases for any of our services (though we are instituting a handling fee for each submission form in order to accomplish the better turnaround time mentioned next). Thanks for your business and support.
Second…WE ARE ELIMINATING THE SHOW "BLACK-OUT" DAYS. That means the 5 day service will be a real 5 day service…and the 15 day service will be a real 15 day service, etc. No "show days don't count" when calculating turn-around times. This show "black-out" situation for turnaround time calculations has been a source of frustration to many of our customers and frankly we didn't like it any more than you did. The solution was obvious…eliminate the "black-out" days and count all weekdays for the purpose of calculating turnaround times whether we were at major shows or not. Unfortunately, we had so many coins to grade that until now that has not been possible. But we've worked diligently to add to our grading staff and improve our processing efficiency and we can now eliminate the "black-out" days, grading vouchers, and all the time you have to spend talking to customer service. NO MORE BLACK-OUT DAYS.
In order to accomplish the elimination of black-out days we need to do two things and we need your help. First, it's much more efficient to process one order of ten coins than to process five orders of two coins each. So to encourage all of our customers to send in coins in larger batches we are instituting a $5 per order handling fee effective January 7, 2007. If you send in ten coins, that's 50 cents a coin, if you send in 20 coins it's 25 cents a coin…and if you send 100 coins in an order it's only 5 cents a coin. So please…send in larger groups of coins when you can. This handling fee will apply to all services, including shows.
Second, we are eliminating guarantees for turnaround times. So the 5 day and 15 day service, for example, will no longer be guaranteed. However, we fully intend to meet the published turn-around times, as we have been doing since increasing our processing capacity. The elimination of the guarantees will eliminate customer service calls, vouchers, and other processing log jams that really don't do anything to help us service you more efficiently.
We feel eliminating the black-out days is a huge improvement in our service and we're happy we can do this and still not increase the prices of our services. The coin market is in a really good place and we want to do everything we can to help you…and we want to keep on improving the service we provide you. Thanks again for all of your business and support.
New submission forms will be available in the coming weeks which will be sent to PCGS Authorized dealers automatically and to Collectors Club members upon request and renewal. New on-line submission forms will be available after the first of the year.

An important message from B.J. Searls, PCGS Set Registry Manager
PCGS Set Registry V2 was launched two weeks ago and has been praised for its many new features. Registered members now have the ability to track their inventory costs and prices, to easily add a coin to multiple sets, an easy way to add multiple images to one coin, a Collectors Showcase where members can show-off their favorite coins which might not necessarily constitute a "set," a "What if?" feature that determines how the addition of a new coin might effect a member's set rating, and the ability to comment on other members' sets. The PCGS Set Registry V2 can be a powerful tool for you and your clients.
