Welcome to the PCGS EZine. As many of you have already noticed, on April 14, we made some major improvements on the new PCGS web site.
One of the exciting new features is the "Horizontal Expansion" of the PCGS Population Report. With the new "Horizontal Expansion," customers can now view all the numerical grades assigned to coins graded by PCGS. In the old version of the PCGS population report many grades below VF were unavailable online. Now, you can go to the population report at the top of any coin series and then click on any tab with a specific group of grades. Each tab will provide different numerical grades for any coin within the series from grades of 1 – 70. This is crucial information when trying to determine the scarcity of many significant coins like an 1893-S Morgan in grades of VF and lower.
Another new feature is the population report data for many different varieties graded by PCGS, which weren’t listed before. To view a certain variety, you may go to the date and mint mark of a specific coin and click on the plus (+) sign and it will show the different varieties for that specific date and mint mark. For instance a 1936 Doubled Die Lincoln cent has three different recognized varieties. Once you click on the plus (+) sign on the 1936 column it will bring up the three different varieties and it will show all the different grades PCGS has assigned to all three varieties. We hope you enjoy the new version and some of the most recent improvements.
