PCGS Grading Sets Go Online With New Photograde

Mike Sherman - November 11, 2009

In conjunction with the debut of the new PCGS website, we will be presenting the PCGS Reference Grading Sets on-line for the first time at the end of this month.

Upon the establishment of PCGS 24 years ago, grading sets were assembled for major series such as Morgan Dollars, Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles, Walking Liberty Halves and others. In the ensuing years, other sets have been built to serve as benchmarks for our graders to insure consistency of opinion when examining submitted coins.

Now, at last, PCGS will be sharing these grading sets with you. Using our TrueView™ photography technique, high-resolution, detailed images of 25 different series from cents through double eagles will enable collectors to determine the approximate grade of their coins. A very easy-to-use interface has been designed, and will permit even a novice to estimate the grade to within several points.

Check next week's eZine for additional details on this exciting and innovative addition to our website – PCGS Photograde.
