Die states: I. No cracks. Very rare.
II. Faint clash marks below ribbon. Reverse has two faint cracks, from ME to rim and from R to rim. Newcomb 5-Db.
III. Faint arc crack through LIBER. Newcomb 5b-Db.
IV. Obverse crack extends through R and left arm of T to rim. Anew crack slants up from end of the drapery, about parallel to the rim. Additional clash marks below the chin.
V. Reverse cracked from the rim through ST, leaf below adjacent A, top right double leaf, and between so to the rim. Newcomb 5c-Dc.
VI. Obverse has at least six additional sets of clash marks above the knot. Reverse cracked through tops of OF to the rim between F A. Newcomb 5c-Dd.
VIII. Rust develops near 180, on the bust, and in the field above; cracked from the shoulder loop to O. Reverse crack joins top left and right leaves.
VIII. Die failing at rim below 18. Reverse cracked from S(T) to adjacent leaf near its base; the crack of state
VIX. extends to the right joining the earlier crack between s o. Newcomb 5c-De.
IX. Two narrow rim breaks below 18 and left. Reverse cracked from the rim to (T)A. Clapp called it "5c-Df."
X. A piece has fallen out of the die between the two long cracks atop the wreath, affecting the top leaf tips.
The die is failing at TES. Extremely rare.
