Set Registry Spotlight

Legend Collection - PR Trade Dollar Set - Current Number One Finest Set
Although lacking only one PCGS graded coin, the Legend Trade Dollar set is complete in every sense of the word. The 1885 trade dollar, graded PR66 by another service, is by far the finest of only five minted. A cameo gem 1884, is the second finest of only 10 minted. In addition to these extreme rarities, the set includes superb gem specimens of the rare early dates such as the 1873 and 1874. To view this set, complete with images, click here.

Spotlight Bonus: Finest Known Trade Dollar Sets, both Mint State and Proof, are Highlights of the PCGS Set Registry

Our Readers Ask

Question: You addressed the definition or identification of a "Cameo" Proof in your last letter. So what makes a "Deep" Cameo Proof different? How can it be identified?

Answer: A Cameo coin will possess a white device against a "black" mirror field. A Deep Cameo will have in addition a deeper contrast, a blast white device with no weakness of this white frost anywhere on the device. For more information on the standards used by PCGS on this subject, please consult the Official Guide to Coin Grading and Counterfeit Detection. This book is available at PCGS.
