Our Readers Ask

Question: I'm very new to the art of grading coins. I'm building a set of MS-66 State Quarters. Where can I go to learn to grade my own coins? Any help would be great.

Answer: The best way to learn is to first acquaint yourself with the Official Guide to Coin Grading and Counterfeit Detection. This book was written by the PCGS grading staff and is intended as a great tool for those wanting to learn the art of coin grading. Also, it is recommended to inspect and view as many coins as you can in PCGS holders. I would suggest doing this at coin shows and at your local dealers' coin stores. Experience will be the best guide for this endeavor.
