1861-D Gold Dollar - Produced by the Confederate States of America
Every day, we spend and some times collect coins which help us relive American history. Decades ago, it was still possible to collect significant treasures from circulating coins. Over one hundred years ago the 1861-D Gold Dollar also circulated through our monetary system. Today this coin is definitely an important part of American history. Click here for more details.

Just One Week to Go! Awards Deadline 6/30/08
Another year has passed and it is almost time to judge, once again, the best of the best. Much has happened since February, 2001, when we launched the PCGS Set Registry with just 327 sets listed! Today, seven years later, the Registry is home to some of the finest collections ever assembled. This year, we are also including the first-year awards for those participating in the
PCGS Currency Set Registry.

The deadline for adding and updating your sets is Monday, June 30, 2008, 5pm EST/2pm PST. All sets will be judged the first week in July based on their status as of the deadline on June 30th. Judges will include numismatic experts from PCGS, PCGS Currency, and the PCGS Numismatic Advisory Board. Winners will be announced mid-July.

To be a contender in this year's awards, sets must be at least 85% complete in PCGS and 75% in PCGS Currency. As a reminder, you must own and have possession of any coin or note you list in your set. In addition, your set must be "published."

To learn about the PCGS awards categories, please click here. For the PCGS Currency award categories, click here.

This year, the major awards will be presented at the PCGS Set Registry luncheon scheduled for Friday, August 1st, in Baltimore at the ANA Convention. Email invitations to the luncheon were emailed last week. If you did not receive your invitation, please email [email protected].

Stewart Blay's Red Copper Collection to be Displayed at the ANA

Our Readers Ask
How long does it take to add new coins to the Population Report?
Answer:
For newly issued coins, PCGS will list the coins we have graded in the PCGS Population Report 90 days from the first day of release. This will provide more reliable information since many coins are still being submitted to us or are going though the grading process when first released.

However, you can always look up the most current population figures including before the 90 days from the date of release by typing in the coin number of the coin under the PCGS Population Report home page search engine http://www.pcgs.com/pop/.

For varieties we are recognizing under Variety Attribution, it is also possible to type in the coin number on the PCGS Population Report Home Page search engine and get the most recent population figures for PCGS recognized varieties.

To learn more about Variety Attribution and find out which varieties PCGS will recognize, visit our Variety Attribution Listings at www.pcgs.com/VarietyFAQ.htm.
