You asked for it, you got it. Information on TrueView on the PCGS.com website has essentially stayed exactly the same since the service was first introduced in 2005. A lot has changed since then in terms of what exactly the service entails, what it includes (and what it does not), how you can use the service, and even my techniques for photographing coins has changed a lot since 2005. So, finally, we are updating this page to include more information, more example photos, and more download options for you.

Not only will the information page be changed, but also the TrueView download page as well. The first TrueView download page was three links to three download sizes. It was later changed to include a sample image on the download page and a few more sizes, but still a very basic page. The new page will be nicely designed by our marketing team, and clearly lay out the download options which now include the White (CoinFacts style) background, and a transparent PNG file that will allow the Photoshop-savvy to more easily make backgrounds of their own.

This download page will also be HTML embedded in the email you get when your TrueViews are ready to be downloaded. This marks a big change from the very simple text email that we’ve been sending out since 2005.

One thing that we do not offer any more is the CD. We used to offer a CD of your images for $25, but this was only asked for a handful of times. If you really, really, really need one, sure we could make one, but since your images will always be online and on our servers (which are of course regularly backed up) I personally don’t feel that it’s necessary.

You should see these changes start within the coming weeks, so keep your eyes peeled. If you have any other comments, questions or suggestions feel free to email me at photography@collectors.com.
