Expert Comments

David Hall: The 1945-S is the second most common San Francisco Mint Walker, after the 1946-S. While the strike is not usually as sharp as you will see on the Philadelphia and Denver Mint coins, the strike on the typical 1945-S is much stronger than is found on the 1940 thru 1944 San Francisco issues. The 1945-S can be found either toned or with frosty luster, though the luster tends to be a little more satiny than on the D-Mints.
