Jaime Hernandez: The 1873 Double Liberty Indian Cent is considered to be very scarce. There are approximately 300 examples known in all grades combined. About 90% of them are in circulated grades. From the coins that still exist in uncirculated grades, most of them are in MS63 - MS64 condition.

Most uncirculated examples are Red Brown in color, with brown examples being the second scarcest color in uncirculated grades. In Red, they are almost unheard of. There is one example graded by PCGS as MS64 Red and it is considered to be the most desirable example of this variety by many Indian cent collectors.
