Expert Comments

David Akers (1975/88): Although popular as a type coin, the 1807 Half Eagle designed by John Reich is relatively common and is seen rather frequently in choice uncirculated condition. Most specimens are very sharply struck. Along with the 1809/8, 1810 Large Date, Large 5, and 1812, this is the most common date of the type.
