Estimated grade. Sold by David Akers Numsimatics, May '98.
David Hall: The 1943-S is rarer than the 1945-S and 1946-S, but not as rare as the other S-Mints of the 1940s. Nonetheless, it is one of the key dates to the 1940-1947 set. Strike is a problem with this issue, as it is for all 1940 to 1944 S-Mint Walkers. The left hand of Ms. Liberty is often so weak it cannot be seen at all. Sharply struck Gems are very scarce and definitely worth a premium price. Luster can be very white and frosty and this issue is also often found with varying degrees of toning.
