David Hall: The 1944 is scarcer in mint state condition than the 1941, 1942, 1943, and 1945. Most specimens have white frosty luster. But unlike the other 1940s P-Mints, strike on the 1944 can sometimes be a little soft and mushy. Strike is not anywhere near as bad as on the S-Mints, but this issue is usually not quite as sharp as the other P-Mints.
