Jaime Hernandez: The 1888 over 7 Indian Cent is considered somewhat scarce, with about 500 examples believed to exist more or less in all grades combined. The 8 digit was apparently struck over a 7 digit on the last digit on the date. Towards the top left hand portion of the last 8 digit on the date, there are traces of the top portion of the 7 digit. Also, towards the bottom of the 8, there is also a small raised lump which is the lower portion of the 7 digit.

This variety is scarce in all grades and in Uncirculated grades, it's practically unknown as there are only 2 examples graded by PCGS in MS63 and MS64 combined, with none being finer.
