In 1807, a new design by John Reich appeared on Half Dollars, eventually spreading to all the denominations. The new design featured a mature bust of Liberty with a cap on her head and the word LIBERTY on the cap's band. The reverse featured an eagle with it's wings spread in a more natural pose than on the previous Heraldic Eagle design. The Capped Bust type lasted on most coins until late in the 1830s. This set includes both the silver and gold denominations. The addition of the latter adds a whole new dimension of difficulty to this set, as almost all of the dates in the Capped Bust series are rare. Both circulation strikes and Proofs are allowed in this set.
