It is estimated that more than 50 million American women have been members of the Girl Scouts Organization since the inception of the program. And, currently there are over 3.7 million members belonging to the Girl Scouts U.S.A.
The maximum mintage for the Girl Scout Commemorative coins has been set at 350,000 coins. In 2010, the U.S. Mint also introduced the Boy Scouts Commemorative Coins, also with a maximum mintage of 350,000 coins. Within a couple months, the coins completely sold out.
The U.S. Mint has not yet set an exact date on when the coins will be available. However, the Mint does expect the Girls Scout Coins to be available sometime in early 2013. In the meantime, we will be following any new developments on these coins. And will keep our readers informed as soon as we know more details of when the coins will be available.
