Great Britain, Proof Crown Dated 1953, PCGS PRCA, A flashy cameo piece commemorating the Queen's coronation. The surfaces are toned lightly in gold when illuminated. Obverse: Queen on horseback advancing to left dividing two crowned Royal cyphers EIIR; artist's initials, GL (Gilbert Ledward) by rear hoof; around above, ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA BRITT OMN REGINA FIDEI DEFENSOR; around below, FIVE SHILLINGS. Reverse: Four flat topped shields forming a diagonal cross around a crown, the shields bear the arms of England (top left and bottom right), Scotland (top right) and Ireland (bottom left); between shields, a rose, shamrock, leek and thistle; the leek divides the date 1953.
