The Mint Set for 1831 contains a controversial coin. While 2,200 1831 Half Cents were struck, it is believed by some to be a Proof-only issue. It's a tough call, as the mintage seems far too low for a conventional business strike for circulation, but far too high for a Proof issue. Several restrikes were made using later reverse dies. The original is included in this set, and about 20 or so pieces are known. The Quarter reappeared after a 3 year hiatus, though now in a reduced size and with a modified design. The remaining coins in the set are all quite common, and should present little to no difficulty.
