Stack's Bowers Auction August 2011 Chicago ANA World's Fair of Money Auction Aug-2011 1720-A French Colonies 20 Sols, or 1/6 Ecu. Paris Mint. MS-63 (PCGS). This issue is listed on page 50 of the 2012 Guide Book in the French Colonial section under the header "Coinage of 1717-1720." It is a John Law issue that was struck at a time when John Law's Compagnie des Indes had control over the French mints (by grant of coinage right from the crown) and operated them for its own profit. An exceptionally attractive survivor, both sides are toned in a blend of multiple colors that are most vivid around the peripheries. Boldly defined throughout, and free of distracting abrasions.
