This splendid example displays ample frost on the devices, still silver bright. The stars and legends show light golden-russet hues around the periphery. The strike is sharp throughout and the surfaces are free of all but minor signs of bag handling. This is one of the finer examples reported for this date and mint. There are a number of minor die cracks in the reverse legends, evidence of the bold strikes employed to bring up the devices as well as the use of a die that probably should have been retired prior to striking this coin.
Provenance: From the Richard Jewell Collection.
