Legend Rare Coin Auctions Auction The Regency Auction 30 Jan-2019 Fewer than 6,000 $3 gold pieces were struck during the year the Civil War began. Lightly worn on both sides, there is a bold satin luster on both sides accenting the sharply struck devices. There is a touch of friction on the highest points. Pleasing wheat gold color. The surfaces do show some traces of contact, but the eye appeal is decent overall. PCGS 41, NGC 18. The last one sold for $1,998 in March 2017 and prior to that, one sold in February 2013 for $3,525 and before that one sold in February 2008 for $2,530. More recently than those PCGS coins was an NGC coin that sold in March 2018 for $2,640 and the current PCGS value is listed at $2,600. Worthy of a neat collection of Civil War era gold. Cert. Number 36172068 PCGS # 7982
