Legend Rare Coin Auctions Auction The Regency Auction 32 May-2019 Ex Vanderbilt/Shrike Set, as noted on the insert. This is truly a SUPERB example, no doubt one of the FINEST graded. The eye appeal is VERY HIGH END! An arc toning frames the upper obverse rim with a delicate earth-toned, rainbow coloration. The lustrous surfaces have intense, rolling cartwheels that enliven the stunning, defect free surfaces. The devices are sharply struck with all the details wonderfully crisp and frosty. There is a moderate contrast on both sides. This well pedigreed SUPERB GEM has an eye appeal worthy of those two great collections and it will look great in your set too! PCGS 35, NGC 31, CAC 16. Only five PCGS/CAC coins have sold in auction, the most recent in the 2018 CSNS auction for $10,800, but prior to that these were bringing $14,000+. The current Collector's Universe value is listed at $10,000. Just three are graded finer, 2 in 67+ and 1 in 68. This is a condition census level 78-S worthy of any great Morgan dollar collection.
