Legend Rare Coin Auctions Auction The Regency Auction 27 Jul-2018 From the RanJack Collection. The 93-S is the undisputed KEY date Morgan dollar struck for circulation. Boasting the lowest mintage in the entire series at 100,000, the vast majority either disappeared into commercial channels and whatever may have been kept in storage was melted in 1918 under the auspices of the Pittman Act. Today, experts estimate about 10,000 survive in all grades, from very low grade and damaged pieces all the way to the amazing Vermeulle-Coronet MS67. Every coin is a prize for the collector, from those of modest means to the ultra wealthy. Any AU coin is a special coin. The presently offered coin has a very respectable look. Ample original mint frost survives on both sides. While this coin saw some time in commerce, it was pulled prior to being chewed up or heavily worn. There is a light friction on the highest points and in the fields, but there are no marks of consequence anywhere. The eye appeal is very nice, and better than the vast majority you will see. PCGS 43, NGC 23. The most recent example to sell realized $36,000 in the 2018 FUN auction. Prior to that, one sold for $38,796 in July 2017. The current PCGS value is listed at $42,500. Keep in mind the Shrike-PFM AU58 which sold in our most recent Regency Auction sold for $79,313. This important and impressive AU example will see very strong bidding when it crosses the block! Cert.
