Legend Rare Coin Auctions Auction The Regency Auction 32 May-2019 Another famous Morgan dollar condition rarity, the 96-O saw 4,900,000 struck and the majority either disappeared into circulation, or into the furnace after the passage of the Pittman Act in 1918. This date is RARE in MS63 and EXTREMELY RARE any finer. This is a really pleasing example with really pretty and totally original multicolored toning on the obverse. Sea-green and amber-gold are the predominant hues, but the light picks up some more subtle shades as the lustrous surfaces are rotated in a light. The devices are really well struck for this notoriously poorly struck date, and the satiny luster really shimmers all over. For a 63+ the surfaces are generally clean, and there are no serious marks, just some minor ticks. We have looked up and down this coin from all angles throughout, we cannot understand why CAC did not bean this pleasing, fully CHOICE 1896-O dollar. Take a look at this one, you will know that the quality is all there and then some. PCGS 19, NGC 3. NGC has graded just 14 finer. None of the NGC MS63+s have ever sold in auction, but a PCGS example sold for $7,800 in March 2019. The current Collector's Universe value is listed at $10,000. EXTREMELY RARE any finer, this is a very important coin for the advanced collector. Cert. Number 74631733005 PCGS # 7242
