Stack's Bowers Auction August 2021 ANA U.S. Coins Auction Aug-2021 Finest Certified Circulation Strike 1962 Nickel PCGS MS-67+ FS Extraordinary Set Registry Coin 1962 Jefferson Nickel. MS-67+ FS (PCGS). As the single finest 1962 nickel known to PCGS, the significance of this offering for advanced Set Registry participants can hardly be overstated. A remarkable strike rarity, both sides are fully impressed with razor sharp detail from the rims to the centers. Intensely lustrous satin surfaces are brilliant apart from the lightest champagne-pink and pale gold toning that is not readily evident at all viewing angles. Temptingly close to pristine, and sure to sell for a strong premium. Like so many circulation strike nickels from the early 1960s, the 1962 is challenging to locate in the finer Mint State grades within the Full Steps category. The present example is both unrivalled and unsurpassed in a PCGS holder. Provenance: From the George "Buddy" Byers Buckeye Collection. Earlier ex Heritage's Rosemont Signature Auction of August 2013, lot 5544. PCGS Population: 1; 0 finer. PCGS# 84071. NGC ID: 22VC. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
